VRMark Preview

Continuing with the intention to make performance testing applied to Virtual Reality this time I used the "VRmark" software in its preview version; since the 3Dmark company (famous in the benchmarks world) currently still has this software in development.

This application allows viewing on HMD and Screen; recreates a typical museum scene with four exhibitions primarily (dioramas type), offering to the viewer a strong impression. These scenes are fully animated, and is a spectacular display of different kinds of lights, glare and reflections, particle effects, simulations of fire, wind, displacement textures and self illuminated materials.

Has been developed to measure the capacity to handle VR scenes, but currently only allows the visualization without any score. It can be downloaded as a complement to the latest Beta version of "3DMark" (3DMark Holiday Beta) which contains eight benchmarks test of highest quality.

SteamVR Performance Test

In order to check the ability of the hardware, I just did the test of "SteamVR Performance Test" application I found it really interesting because they use a scene with a robotic exploded view with very good animations, light effects and materials.

The application was created in order to be able to measure the capabilities of any computer for VR, in particular to validate the use of the HTC Vive (Valve business partner).

This application is completely free and can be downloaded from the indicated link, and does not require to have any HMD connected. Excellent application and more complete compared to the "Rift Compatibility Check" for the Oculus Rift.
